Medizintrends für 2013
Medical trends for 2013 |
Rund
90 Prozent der Befragten erwarten insbesondere bei
therapeutischen Maßnahmen und personalisierten Behandlungen
einen hohen Grad an Qualität. Gerade letztere nehmen in einer
zunehmend älteren Bevölkerung geradezu zwingende Bedeutung an.
In diesem hochsensiblen Markt
Pharmazie entwickelte Compounds an.
Both the health
industry and the population in general regard the developments
in medical technology as innovative, promising and positive, and
especially developments concerning prevention, diagnostics and
treatment, according to a study recently carried out by Forsa.
This leads to maximum demands on precision and quality regarding
technical medical components used in or on people.
Around 90 percent of those surveyed anticipate a high degree
of quality particularly when it comes to therapeutic measures
and personalized treatment. Especially the latter is invariably
of major importance in a population which is increasingly older.
The aim is to develop personalized medicine and home
applications which help patients to stay active and independent
for as long as possible.
Apart from
personalizing medical applications, biochip technology also
plays a major role in both the area of biomarkers for early
detection, prognosis and progression of disease and for
establishing interactions and incompatibilities associated with
certain medication.
Electronic
instruments will be increasingly obliged to adapt better to
curved or bent surfaces and must not therefore be rigid or
inflexible. As far as electronic implants are concerned, they
will have to become ever smaller and more efficient in order to
automatically pass on data on the patient's current bill of
health via integrated sensors. The future will see a major
challenge presented by this area, too.
And finally, the
material issue will be more significant than ever before:
whether for packaging, coating, tube and catheter materials,
orthopedic instruments, implants, syringes – basically any
material for every conceivable medical, medical engineering or
pharmaceutical application and equipment. New material
compositions, PVC-free and antibacterial materials in particular
are practically being developed and launched by the minute. A
development which is likely to accelerate in 2013.
In this
highly-sensitive market and in our capacity as a specialist in
manufacturing and compounding tailored plastic granulate, we
offer compounds specially developed for the medical technology
and pharmaceutical sectors in the form of our ProvaMed®
portfolio. One focal area of this portfolio concerns TPEs (thermoplastic
elastomers) which are free of latex, silicone and phthalates,
displaying safe food and medical properties, passing skin and
mucous membrane irritation tests and conformant with BfR, EU and
FDA guidelines. |

ProvaMed® auf der MEDTEC Europe
ProvaMed® at the MEDTEC Europe |
Die
innovative Medizintechnik weist nach einer Studie des
Bundeswirtschaftsministeriums weltweit Zuwachsraten von rund
fünf Prozent jährlich auf. Andere Marktforschungsunternehmen,
ihrem breiten Leistungsspektrum vorstellen.
Compounds finden Sie
hier in der Übersicht.

According
to a study by the Federal Ministry for Economic
Affairs, innovative medical technology displays annual growth
rates of around five percent worldwide. Other market research
companies such as Espicom Business Intelligence (EBI) forecast
an average increase of 7.3 percent by 2014. What is interesting
is the fact that technology is welcomed more in the area of
medicine than in any other area of life.
Innovative
companies will be presenting new intelligent, medical
engineering products during the MEDTEC Europe 2013 from February
26 – 28. This year, the MEDTEC Europe will also be offering a
comprehensive overview of each line of business required for
manufacturing medical products and equipment. And ACTEGA DS will
also be presenting our materials for medical engineering
applications and the wide range associated with this division.
Here too, we will be focusing on our TPEs which represent a good
alternative to PVC-based compounds. Capable of sterilization
using gamma and electron radiation, ethylene oxide (EtO) and
even via hot steam in autoclaves depending on the respective
application, they are particularly suitable for the medical
technology sector where the use of sterile products is an
absolute must. An overview of our compound portfolio can be
found

Anwendungsbeispiel Schlauch
Sample application: tubes |
klinischer Anwendung sollte röntgenkontrastgebende Streifen in
Sterilisationsverfahren. Um den freien Fluss der Stoffe
innerhalb der Schläuche zu gewährleisten, ist Knickbeständigkeit
gefordert.
formen.
Tube connections can save lives and
must therefore comply with maximum requirements. The wrong
material mix or aggressive plasticizers, for example, could have
fatal consequences. Interactions between tube material and
pharmaceutical substances or those produced naturally by the
body which could impair the human organism must be prevented at
all costs. We have developed the highly-transparent ProvaMed®
1060 TPE for such applications. Accordingly, liquid or gaseous
content remains visible enabling visual flow control.
Tube systems in clinical applications
should display radiopaque stripes in the tube wall to enable the
position of the tube to be tracked in the body. Bacterial
resistance should be increased in the form of antimicrobial
coating. One key aspect is represented by material
bio-compatibility depending on where it is used in the body, the
physiological contact medium during application of the product,
the period of use and the sterilization process – especially in
the case of tube systems in contact with blood. Buckling
resistance is necessary to guarantee the free flow of substances
through tubes. All of these requirements are taken into
consideration in advance by our ProvaMed® 1060 compound recipe,
as is the challenge represented by the co-extrusion of two or
more materials in order to form various layers within a tube. |

Für Kosmetika
For cosmetics |
bereit.
Similar to
contact with medical agents or food, avoiding contamination is
also of utmost importance when it comes to cosmetics. Depending
on the specific conditions of use, plastic components
manufactured from our materials comply with the regulations
stipulated by the FDA, USP Class VI, European Pharmacopoeia or
BfR. They are therefore suitable for all areas in the immediate
consumer environment. This also applies, for example, for
packaging and tubes, especially when they are in direct contact
with contents such as creams, lotions, powders or oils.
The aim is to avoid migration by undesirable substances from
such packaging – which can be guaranteed by using our
thermoplastic elastomers as they contain neither PVC nor
phthalates. What's more, our materials display maximum strength
accompanied by a high degree of flexibility while colored
compounds make it easier to distinguish individual products. In
the form of ProvaMed® 1080 and 1180, the corresponding compounds
are available for these areas of application and they are also
suitable for contact with food. |
